Course description
LUNASON's Metasonic Resonators offer a unique approach to resonance, sound projection, and spatial perception. The course focuses on the resonators developed by LUNASON and the question of how acoustic vibrations can be transferred to materials, amplified, and projected into space. Participants will become familiar with different Metasonic Resonators and learn how shape, material, surface, and construction influence their sonic behavior. It will become clear that a resonator doesn't simply amplify sound, but rather becomes an integral part of the musical composition itself. Each shape reacts differently, develops its own resonances, and alters the way sound propagates in space. Using practical examples, various resonance principles will be explored and experienced firsthand. Participants will listen, compare, and experiment with different resonators, sound sources, and excitation methods. This will lead to new perspectives on timbre, dynamics, spatial effect, and musical presence. Another focus will be on the interplay between the sound source and the resonator. Participants will learn how targeted sound projection can alter musical structures and what possibilities this opens up for composition, performance, installation, and sound art. The course combines acoustic fundamentals with practical sound research and artistic experimentation. The Metasonic Resonators are understood not only as technical systems, but also as independent musical instruments and sound bodies that enable new forms of listening and creation.
